Microsoft introduces opportunities for assistance to NGOs in Pristina

Microsoft Kosovo and Macedonia Office held today on 17th April 2014 in Pristina Microsoft NGO Connection Day, the meeting was dedicated to the multinational cooperation with non-governmental organizations and the introduction of support that Microsoft offers civil society sector.

The meeting was facilitated by two sister organizations, Metamorphosis Foundation from Skopje and NGO Lens from Prishtina, both focused on using innovation and technology to the development of democracy and improving the quality of life.

In the presence of over 70 participants from all over Kosovo, mainly from civil society, but also to enthusiasts and professionals in the field of information technology, was introduced in the grant program licensed software provided by Microsoft, and direct program support NGOs seizures, Youth Spark.

Education Program Manager for Microsoft Office for Kosovo and Macedonia, Vlora Adam spoke about how NGOs can benefit from Microsoft grants dedicated to this sector and unveiled details about application procedures. This assistance is given to NGOs for realizing and maximizing their potential, and to pursue their goals for the development of society. NGOs should be able to integrate the technology that is available to them, not only to increase their internal efficiency, but also to be able to provide programs and services more efficiently with greater involvement.

Attendees also had the opportunity to be informed by the journalist and expert Gjergj Filipaj about using information technology for the common good, in particular on the use of social networks for their own purposes. As activity arising from this meeting, NGO Lens will form an informal group of participating organizations and interested, and will help NGOs from Kosovo have the opportunity to utilize the best support provided by Microsoft.
